Who we are

Our website address is: IndigiPress provides this policy (Privacy Policy) to describe how we may collect, use, and share information that you and other people provide to us through our website (the Website), as well as through any other apps that connect to this Privacy Policy.

What information we collect and why we collect it

IndigiPress has an “opt-in only” Privacy Policy. This means you are in control of your information, and we will send marketing or other information to you only if you have expressly stated that you want to receive it.

You may voluntarily provide information about yourself (Personal Information) when you use certain features of the Website. When signing up for our newsletter, making a donation, commenting on a post, contacting us, or submitting your work you may choose to provide us with information, such as your name and email address. Other information may include your physical address, zip code, phone number, date of birth, and country of residence.

When you use the Website, we may also gather other information that you do not explicitly provide (Technical Information), including but not limited to browser type, IP address, pages visited, device type, and the time and date of your visit. If permitted by your browser settings, we may also receive information about your current location. We may use cookies or similar technology to collect this information. We may use your Personal and Technical Information to measure usage of the Website, to analyze the effectiveness of the Website, to conduct research, to improve and enhance functionality of the Website, to provide support for the Website and respond to requests and inquiries, and to provide you with notices, such as updates or changes that we may make to the Website or our policies.

More detail about specific information is included below.

Newsletter information

If you sign up for our newsletter, you will provide us with your email address, which we will use in order to send you the newsletter.

Donor information

IndigiPress uses PayPal for our online donations, and so if you make a donation this way we will not have access to your personal payment information. You may provide us with your name, or you may choose to donate anonymously. If you choose to pay us via check, this will give us access to whatever information is present on your check. We will never use this information in any way except as needed to process the payment.

Comment information

In making a comment on the Website, you will sign in using your Google or Facebook account. IndigiPress will collect only the information you provide and no more than what is needed to process the comment. This may include your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. You may opt-in to saving your name and email address in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave future comments. These cookies will last for one year.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Information embedded in uploaded media

If you upload images to the website, please be aware that other visitors to the Website can extract any location data that may be in those images. So please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your information with

Newsletter information

When you provide IndigPress with your name and/or email address in order to sign up for our newsletter, we will not trade, share, or sell this personal information with any other organization or individual except as needed to send you the newsletter. Nor will we send any communications to you on behalf of other organizations unless we have your stated permission to do so.

Donor information

When you provide your name and/or other personal information through a donation, IndigiPress will not trade, share, or sell this personal information with any other organization or individual except as needed to complete the donation transaction. This applies to any donor information we collect about you, whether on this Website or off.

Comment information

IndigPress will not share or sell the information you provide us with in making a comment, except as needed to process the comment. Your comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long we retain your information

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Personal information is preserved only for as long as it serves the purpose for which you shared it with us in the first place. We will take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify personal information that is no longer needed for this purpose. We will take similar steps if the website is ever deactivated entirely. If IndigiPress moves to a different website, we will notify you so you can let us know what you want us to do with your information.

If you register on our Website (this is not currently an option), we also store the personal information you provide in your user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your choices

If you have subscribed to our newsletter, you can request to opt out of our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of the newsletter. If you have made a donation through this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can request that we correct or update any of your personal data that we hold, and you can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except for data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

We do everything we can to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure. We manage your information in accordance with our legal responsibilities and under the principles of transparency and consumer control of data. However, no website or email list is perfectly secure, and IndigiPress cannot be held responsible for information theft or other unauthorized access that is beyond our control.

If you have any complaints or concerns about how IndigiPress has handled your information, please use the contact form on the Website to explain the situation. We will do everything we can to address your concern.

Any such changes will be effective immediately when we post them and will apply to all access to and use of the website thereafter. By your continued use of the website after the date any such changes become effective, you indicate your acceptance of the revised policy.
